Review of Hardly A Day

"After her two previous releases were received extremely favourably, Olwen returns confidently with this five track EP, and she sounds in fine voice. Mark Edwards is back again as producer (and first-rate pianist) but this time round a pop/rock vibe is the order of the day. All of the songs included here are self-penned and, lyrically, Olwen's skill of expressing herself in a simple, universal style is as strong as ever...On "Belong To You" Olwen's voice soars effortlessly over a backing that includes strings that wouldn't sound out of place on a James Bond movie soundtrack. "Promised Land" is another highlight where Olwen is joined by the congregation of CityCoast church in Portslade where she leads worship. Closing number "You Know My Name", over the course of its ten and a half minutes, builds from a beautifully sparse piano ballad to an epic full band work-out. A breathtaking finale to a record that could just be the finest release of Olwen's career so far."

Review of Live at The Chapel Royal

"... here is an album that should be regarded as excellent, with or without big label subsidies. If you're looking for a record to put on to lighten up your day in a peaceful and graceful manner, then this is perfect. Everything about it is well executed. The songwriting, recording, playing, mixing, singing; it all smacks of anointing to me! There is a humility that seems to flow from the music that makes you respect Olwen even more. She has a lovely, slightly whispery voice that glides through the album leaving the listener in a calmed state. The album features bursts of Celtic music which is quite delightful... The flow of the album is natural and well thought through, it's never dull. You'll love this album if Note For A Child or Iona ever affected you. All in all, I'd highly recommend this release to you."

"...very much folk pop in nature and to a degree comes across as an Anglasised Sixpence None The Richer. Not only in vocal style and music delivery, but also in that Olwen wears her Christian faith on her sleeve through her lyrics, but does so without sounding preachey. In addition to her great voice, Olwen has a great band..."

Review of Live at The Chapel Royal

"It is always a joy to hear new, expressive and experimental music and especially when lyrics, musicianship and vocals are of a high standard. This can most definitely be said of Olwen Ringrose, a new artist from Brighton. As unusual as it is to be “wowed” by an unsigned artist these days, Olwen’s voice is nothing less than perfect. Her album “Live at the Chapel Royal” gives evidence to her vocal range and shows that you do not have to release a debut album from the studio. With the help of Mark Edwards and fantastic musicians from Vineyard, Olwen has created a chilled out and eclectic album comprising of various genres of life and love songs. If she is this good live, then I can only envision great things from this artist in the studio".
