JACOB'S LEGACY

This was the result of a song writing session with Aaron Scollen while I was at University in Leeds. I wrote the music first and Aaron wrote the first verse and chorus. The second verse is mine. I guess we both lay ourselves pretty bare in this one! It's based on the account of Jacob wrestling with the Angel of God in Genesis.

I've wrestled with myself and all my foolish pride
Hollow dreams and illusions are the things that I have found
Not giving you the place ot speak into my life
I never seem to learn
Though pride would take me from you , I'm humbled once again
I want to know youre purpose and all that you have planned
I turn my eyes to you, Holder of the truth
The only one that I can trust

You've taken hold of me, now I'm taking hold of you
I won't let go untill you bless me
You've taken hold of me, now I'm taking hold of you
I'm holding on until your bless me

Sometimes when I look deep into your face
I see my life reflected in the mirror of your grace
I take a long hard look at the me I see
I feel I have nothing to give
On my knees before you, so wretched and ashamed
You're reaching out towards me, calling me by name
I'm lifing up my eyes and seeking after you
The only one I'm looking for

Will you bless me?
Will you touch me?
Will you change me?
I know you love me
